01 / Understanding your coverage
What can insurance pay for?
Honeydew can work with private insurance, including employer and Marketplace plans, as well as Medicare and Medicaid prescription benefits. Of course, your exact coverage depends on your plan and treatment.
| Insurance | How you pay | |
|---|---|---|
| Prescription medications | May be covered | Use eligible benefits or a cash price |
| Eligible lab work | May be coveredSubject to your plan’s benefits | Insurance or out of pocket |
| Honeydew membership | Not covered by insurance | Direct-pay membershipHSA/FSA eligible |
Coverage isn’t guaranteed. Your medication, formulary, deductible, copay or coinsurance, and any required approvals affect what you pay.
Same insurer doesn’t always mean the same coverage. We help you understand your individual benefits once you have a treatment plan.
02 / Finding the better price
Have insurance?
Cash may still cost less.
Honeydew helps you compare insurance copays, cash pricing, and pharmacy discounts so you can always choose the most affordable option.
What is a cash price? It is simply the direct, out-of-pocket cost of a medication without using health insurance. Because insurance plans often charge fixed copays regardless of what a drug actually costs - or require you to pay full price until you meet a high deductible - Honeydew’s cash prices are frequently lower than an insurance copay, especially for common generic medications.
Example from our guide, not a medication quote. Your actual prices and savings will vary.
Sometimes insurance wins, and an eligible copay may cost as little as $0. Other times, paying cash saves you significantly. The right choice is whichever option gives you the better price.
